Hardware & SIM Terms
These Hardware & SIM Terms are part of the Terms of Service. Unless a signed order says you are purchasing the units, RT Track is a hardware-included subscription: you pay a monthly fee; RT Express keeps title to the Equipment.
1. Equipment
“Equipment” means GPS trackers (currently SinoTrack ST-901-class 4G wired units), SIMs, wiring harnesses, antennas, and any accessories we ship for use with RT Track. It does not include your trailer, truck, electrical system, or third-party install labor.
Equipment is provided for use only with RT Track. You may not:
- sell, pawn, pledge, or sublease it;
- move it to another tracking platform or change the server IP, password, or APN we set except as we direct;
- remove or obscure our labels;
- ship a live SIM overseas or use it in a consumer phone.
2. Title and risk
Title to Equipment stays with RT Express (or our lessor) until we send a written bill of sale. Risk of loss passes to you on delivery to the address you give us. If Equipment is lost, stolen, destroyed, or not returned, you owe the then-current replacement charge we quote (hardware + SIM + reasonable handling), plus any unpaid subscription. Tell us promptly if a unit is missing — we will deactivate the SIM when we can.
3. Installation
You (or an installer you hire) are responsible for a safe, legal, weather-appropriate install on equipment you are authorized to modify. Wired units need a sound 12/24 V source and, if you want engine/ACC status, the correct ignition/ACC lead. A bad ground or a unit hidden against a metal bulkhead will produce poor GPS or false “offline” alerts — that is not a service defect.
We may provide install notes or an on-site visit when quoted. We are not your electrician or your trailer OEM. Damage to your asset from installation is your responsibility unless we physically performed the work and it was our negligence.
Do not connect unused outputs. We do not support remote cutoff / immobilizer wiring.
4. SIMs and cellular
Each tracker uses a SIM we supply, on Hologram, 1NCE, or another provider we choose. The SIM is part of the Equipment. Cellular coverage, roaming, and carrier outages are outside our control. Plans include data for the reporting rate we configure; abusive extra traffic (for example a unit stuck in a tight reconnect loop you ignore after we flag it) may be billed or the unit suspended.
SMS used to configure a device is sent on that SIM’s own provider. Customer alert SMS (power loss, offline, and so on) is a separate channel you opt into on Account settings.
5. Care and prohibited uses
Treat Equipment as you would other shop electronics. Do not submerge it, run it without a fuse, or power it from an unregulated source. Indoor-only or unpowered storage will drain the backup battery and is not a defect.
You must not use Equipment to track people or assets you are not authorized to track (see Acceptable Use).
6. Failed units and RMA
If a tracker or SIM fails in ordinary use, email dan@rtohio.com with the tracker ID and what you see. Our usual practice is to ship or allocate a spare from inventory so your asset is not left dark while a unit goes back to the manufacturer. You return the failed unit as we direct. A swap is not a new 30-day satisfaction window and does not reset your monthly fee.
Manufacturer (SinoTrack) warranty, if any, runs to us as the purchaser. We pass through the practical benefit by replacing units that fail in ordinary service during your subscription. We do not warrant that a given unit will last a stated number of years. Failures from crash damage, cut wires, water in a non-sealed join you created, or missing parts are replacement-charge events, not RMAs.
7. End of service — return
When you cancel, we suspend, or the account closes, you must return all Equipment within 15 days of our return instructions, in good working order, SIMs included, unless we tell you to destroy a SIM in writing. Until we confirm receipt, subscription charges may continue. Unreturned Equipment is invoiced at replacement cost.
Return shipping is at your expense unless we caused the return (our error, or a documented DOA unit we sent).
8. Data on a device
A tracker may hold a short offline buffer of positions. That buffer is overwritten in ordinary use. We do not treat a returned unit as a records archive; your system of record is the RT Track portal. Do not send us a tracker expecting us to extract extra history from it as a service unless we agree in writing.
9. If you later buy the hardware
If a signed order converts a unit to a sale, title passes when that invoice is paid in full. The SIM and RT Track subscription remain ours / remain billable unless the order says the SIM is included in the sale. Sold units still must not be pointed at another platform while you are an RT Track customer using our SIM.
